Going all in.

The tech industry is known for its dynamic nature, and with that dynamism often comes unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, even the most talented professionals find themselves facing unforeseen circumstances, such as a layoff. As you get to know me you will learn that I have a slight obsession with Unicorns and Rainbows and as the saying goes, “Rainbows remind us that even after the darkest times, beauty and hope emerge." For me, that rainbow came in the form of supporting mentors that encouraged me to start my own Talent Acquisition operations consulting firm. I want to share my journey and the reasons behind my decision to embark on this entrepreneurial path.

Embracing Change:

In times of economic uncertainty, layoffs are an unfortunate reality that many companies face. As organizations strive to adapt and survive, talent acquisition teams often find themselves in the crosshairs of these cost-cutting measures. Losing a job is a life-altering experience that can trigger a whirlwind of emotions. It tested my resilience and pushed me to reevaluate my career path. I chose to embrace change and view it as an opportunity for personal and professional growth. This mindset shift allowed me to consider alternative avenues and ultimately led me to explore the world of consulting.

Identifying a Gap in the Market:

Throughout my career, I have noticed a recurring issue among companies in the tech industry – many struggled with effective talent acquisition operations. Companies are investing in great technology for their talent acquisition teams but due to restraints on headcount they are not truly optimizing those investments. Having a full time employee on the talent acquisition team is not always the most economically feasible solution. I decided to start a specific consulting service that could help companies optimize their talent acquisition processes, streamline operations, and attract top-tier talent.

Leveraging Expertise and Experience:

Having worked in the tech industry for a significant period, I had acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise in talent acquisition operations. I had firsthand experience with the challenges faced by both small startups and large corporations when it came to hiring and building efficient recruitment processes. By starting my consulting firm, I could leverage this expertise to assist other organizations in overcoming their talent acquisition hurdles.

Getting laid off in the tech industry may initially feel like a significant setback, but it can also serve as a transformative moment in your professional life. For me, it opened the doors to a new entrepreneurial journey, where I could utilize my expertise and experience to assist companies in improving their talent acquisition operations. So, if you find yourself facing a similar situation, take a moment to reflect on the opportunities that may lie ahead. You never know; the next chapter could be the most fulfilling one of your career.
